All In

Picture
All in.

Jesus was all in.

He left His place in heaven to come to this world to live like one of us. He didn't go home on the weekends. He didn't take an annual vacation to heaven to get refreshed. He was fully committed.

He was all in.

All the way to death.

Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me..."
Luke 9:23 (NKJV)

Do you want to go all in for Jesus?

Then deny yourself.

That means His will trumps yours at every turn.

Take up your cross daily.

Daily we will want to give into our own desires and daily we will have to make the hard choices.

Somewhere along the way someone came up with the idea that the longer we walk with Jesus, the easier it will be to pick up our crosses.  However, I presume this is exactly why Jesus says, "daily."
He knew we would get tired and weak and desire to take the easy road. So He let us know that daily we would need to deny our desires and follow Him. He knew that it would be a day by day choice we'd have to make to choose Him over our own self-soothing inclinations, no matter how long we walk with Him.

Follow Him.

Follow His example.  He was all in, daily.  Until death.
It comes down to a daily choice to go all in for Him.
