“Because I said so, that’s why!”
How many times have we heard that as children, and worse yet, how many times have we said that?
Isn't it funny how our perspective as children versus our perspective as adults is so different?
As children we felt like this was simply a mean answer.
As adults we have a different perspective, don't we?
I have uttered this phrase to my children numerous times and for numerous reasons. For many reasons, but mainly because I feel strongly that it is important for my children to obey me without having all the answers. I want them to trust me, to understand that I love them, always. It is my desire for them to understand that the heart behind all of my “Because I told you so! That’s why!” comments are dripping in love.
The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law Deuteronomy 29:29
God sometimes says “Because I said so, that’s why!” doesn’t He?
He understands
that we don't have the capability of discerning.
A few things we must understand:
The last half of Deuteronomy 29:29 says: that we may do all the words of this law…
We are responsible to do what HAS been revealed to us.
We need to trust He will take care of the rest.
So until THAT DAY when all is revealed, trust in His love for you.

A few things we must understand:
- He is God and we are not. If we understood everything about God, He would cease to be our God.
- He isn’t a big one of us. Isaiah 55:8-9 says: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
- His intentions are always out of His love for us!
